Fly fishing for trout in Patagonia is one of the most incredibly rewarding experiences that a fly angler can have.  In this pristine and remote region, the abundance of crystal clear lakes and rivers provide amazing fishing opportunities for Brown, Rainbow and Brook Trout, Chinook and Landlocked Atlantic Salmon. Wherever you go here, captivating mountain scenery, a rich and friendly Latina culture and fishing as it was thirty years ago in the States add up to create memorable angling experiences day after day.

I have been traveling, fishing and guiding in Patagonia since 1995 and my personal connections and local knowledge will help to make your trip here a special one. For groups of two to ten people you can choose custom itineraries to meet your budgets, timeframes and special interests. Working closely with select lodges in Chile and Argentina, I will personally host your trip, help arrange your travel and provide options for you to find a perfect itinerary (not available with other outfitters), at no extra cost to you.

When to visit Patagonia

The fishing season begins in early November and runs through the end of April which is Fall in Patagonia. There are advantages to traveling there at all times throughout the season. In late November through December the waters can be high but it is when the fish are the most active and have not been molested by fishermen for six months. Early season fishing can be the best action of the year, yet the weather can be difficult. The best weather season is January and through mid - March. Fishing at this time can be very good but expect a few more people around and more selective fish. As mid to late March rolls around certain areas become full of fish as they feed aggressively to put on pounds for the upcoming winter. This lasts through April when the Browns start to spawn and begin their search for suitable gravel. It is generally in this timeframe that the weather becomes colder and more temperamental but the fishing can be red hot. Depending on when you would like to travel, I will recommend custom itineraries based on where the fish are at that time of year and your specific interest as anglers. If you come as a non angler but want to hike, sea kayak, whitewater raft, ride horses, mountain bike or just plain relax, the best season is from January through March 15.
