The Valle Bonito Lodge is located on the Espolon River 10 kilometers outside the small town of Futaleufu, Chile. In this peaceful and spectacular setting guests stay in rustic but comfortable riverside cabins and from here they have close access to many excellent fishing waters, hiking and mountain biking trails, horseback trips and whitewater adventures. In a week to ten day long trip you may choose the activities that you want. Fly fishing venues include several float and walk and wade sections of the nearby Espolon and Futaleufu Rivers, Espolon Lake, Yelcho Lake, Seno Muerto and Lancanao Lakes, as well as numerous local small creeks and lagunas all within an hour of the Valle Bonito. The Futaleufu River begins as the Rio Grande just over the border in Argentina. It’s fertile waters are some of the most productive Rainbow and Brown trout water in Patagonia. From the lodge, there are three sections that we float and two that we can walk into. The dry fly fishing here can be epic with strong Caddis, Mayfly and Midge hatches throughout the summer season. On some trips you can fly into Esquel, Argentina which is only an hour away, fish a few days there on the Arroyo Pescado spring creek and Rio Grande River, then transfer to Chile and spend the rest of your time exploring the waters from the Valle Bonito.
