North of Esquel, Argentina, in the beautiful Los Alerces National Park is the lovely Hosteria El Aura. On the shores of Lago Verde, the first class cabins and lodge are in the middle of a fly fishermans’ paradise. Nearby are the Rio Grande, Rivadavia, Arrayanes, Frey, Stange and Carrileufu Rivers, El Canal Spring Creek, Lago Verde, Lago Kruger, Lago Menendez, Lago Futalaufquen and Laguna Larga. All of these fisheries have been praised by the late Mel Krieger and Jim Repine for their serene beauty and challenging clear water conditions. The fertile waters of the Park contain Rainbow, Brown and Brook Trout as well as Landlocked Atlantic Salmon.
Aside from the fishing, near the Hosteria there are many hiking trails, boat tours, horseback trips, and sightseeing possibilities in the Park. I like to combine a week long trip with time at El Aura a few days at El Encuentro Lodge on the Rio Grande as well. This way by only traveling an hour and a half, you will see as much quality water and accommodations as possible while minimizing your travel time.
Lu hosts guests here at El Aura and if you book your trip through him, he will be there to help arrange your travel, meet you at the airport, answer any questions that you may have and personally host your trip. For more information on this world class destination please visit their website at http://www.hosteriaselaura.com and/or contact Lu directly. Prices begin at $3250 oer person for sveb night/six day fishing trip.
